I went outside of myself to find the meaning of life and I found it, outside of and also inside me. The meaning of life is to find, choose, and make meaning.
Here's where I am.
Live life fully: find and add to the good.
We each have a fundamental belief about how life operates, about who we are, and what we're about. It is our organizing principle. Yours might be the prime importance of your biological family, your religious or spiritual belief, the importance of money, success in a sport; it could be keeping disease-free, how your look, your identity as an intellectual or an artist. Etc. This principle, this center of meaning which you've chosen unconsciously and consciously, forms your bedrock belief. It is on that belief, that organizing principle, that you build your life.
I have one, too. Mine is that more good is possible. My belief can help you in yours.
I believe that there is more to life than only the material. That our existence, and Life itself, is more than only that which we can touch, see, or measure. Life is material, frequently seen, often touchable, yes; and it is also what we might call spiritual. It is also that which binds us all together. Which makes/ causes/ allows the physical to work. We can know more of it but not, I think, all of it.
I also believe that everyone's life can improve. Your life can be more personally fulfilling; it can better serve goodness in the world.
There is more good in this life available in and for each of us. This includes you, dear reader. Your situation at a given point in time might suck, yes. But that does not mean your life, overall, needs to be a tortuous feat of survival. Joy is sometimes available even in difficult or dire situations. It can be found by those who allow it, who create it, who have learned to cultivate it. I'm not promising an always, or an always easy, joy. I am suggesting that happiness and joy can be experienced more often. That a greater knowing of peace, and your place in this world, of meaning, can come.
"There is more good" is a process of search-and-find. I work from the perspectives which particularly interest me: business, science, the Bible, the pragmatic, history, science fiction/ science fantasy/ fantasy, and personal experience; you will have your own.
Search knowing there is more good and you will find it.
